Meet The Leadership
Maria Ahrens
Owner & Director
Hello families! I have been in the early childhood field for over 10 years. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education, hold an Early Childhood Certificate and have a master’s degree in Family Therapy. I have been a childcare director for 8 years.
Parents deserve to drop their babies off at a place they absolutely love. They deserve to get pictures, videos, and updates throughout the day! It’s hard enough that when your child turns 5, you suddenly have to drop them off at Kindergarten with little to no contact throughout the day. Imagine, dropping your 3 month old or 3 year old off and having to wonder how they are doing. We don’t want that for you.
At Paper Planes, we put a huge emphasis on social-emotional literacy. We want parents, children and staff to feel warm and welcome every single day. It is vital to a child’s well-being that they feel safe and to feel safe, you must feel loved. Lean on us while you go back to work or simply integrate your child into a social setting because that’s important to you.
My husband and I have two children: Emmett who is 6 years old and Nora who is 4 years old. We are all excited about Paper Planes finally coming into fruition and cannot wait to meet you and your children. Thank you for choosing us to take care of the most precious person in your life. We are honored.

Assistant Director
I was born to be in the early childhood field, and I feel grateful that I get to fulfill my heart’s desire day in and day out.
I taught in several different school settings: a daycare center setting such as this, as well as a licensed home daycare for many years. Making connections with families and having them entrust their babies with me is something I do not take lightly. I understand the importance of quality care, communication, love and the patience that it takes to ensure a safe, happy, learning environment.
Paper Planes is a dream school that I know will be the place every parent wants their child to be. I am honored to be a part of this journey and I am thrilled to get the opportunity to help care for and educate your children!
